Exciting News: Double Up & Give Back

We have very exciting news here at Tucson CSA! We are now approved to accept SNAP for our 6-week produce subscriptions through the Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program. We are encouraging current members who may qualify to let us know and take advantage of this fantastic program! We are also asking for the rest of our members to give back by supporting our Holiday Pop-Ups the next three weeks, and buying a CSA Tote Bag as a gift!

How you can Double UP

The Double Up AZ program is a dollar for dollar SNAP match: $1 for $1 incentive for shoppers using SNAP to buy locally grown Arizona produce.

Here is how it works at Tucson CSA: buy 2 shares with SNAP, get 2 shares free, plus get 2 shares with CS-Aid

We are accommodating SNAP regulations by combining the “buy-two-get-two-free” model with our CS-Aid program to maintain continuity of all customers on a 6-week cycle, while also investing our own funds in making this program accessible to SNAP recipients.

For example, once a qualified member is asked to join, they will pay for the current and following week (weeks 1 and 2) with SNAP, and weeks 3 and 4 will be free to the member through reimbursement from Double Up Food Bucks, and Tucson CSA will cover the cost of weeks 5 and 6 through our CS-Aid fund.

Simply send us an email and we can help set this up for you!

Thanks to Pinnacle Prevention for supporting this incredible program and bringing to all of Arizona, including our very own Tucson CSA.

How you can Give Back

We launched our CS-Aid program in March of 2020 in direct response to the Covid-19 Pandemic with generous support from current members who started donating to make sure that others would not have to cancel their membership due to unforeseen financial hardship. We are happy to continue to offer support to help past, current, and future CSA members who would not otherwise be able to join.

Vendors are donating 10% of all sales during our Holiday Pop-Ups towards the CS-Aid Fund. Support our local artisans, find great holiday gifts, and give back in the process.

We’re also giving away a free CSA tote bag with any CS-Aid donation of $20 or more, while supplies last! These large, sturdy bags are produced by a women’s cooperative at DouglaPrieta Works, in Douglas, Arizona and Agua Prieta, Sonora and screen-printed locally by The Gloo Factory. We bought more because they were so popular the last time we had them in stock. Come get one while supplies last!

Our CS-Aid program stays true to our value of Food Equity by including all those who want to be a part of our community. Thank you for your support!

Our goal at Tucson CSA is to have 5% of our total membership at all times qualify and receive assistance through CS-Aid. We hope that we can continue to build upon our value of food equity by reaching a broader audience through this endeavor and more outreach projects to come!
